Why Celebrate? ¿Por qué celebrar?

At FAC en Español, we love to celebrate together. Recently, we celebrated the birthdays of members of our congregation! We ate cake, we prayed to give thanks for God’s gift of life, and we took time to just have fun.

Another special event we recently celebrated together was our New Friends Gathering, a casual, informal space for those who were new to the congregation to get to know one another better. We also played games and prayed together. It was a time filled with joy! We loved being able to connect with others, mark the beginnings of new friendships, and be in community together.

These times are an extension of what we do as a congregation to seek God and celebrate His goodness. We even extend this to celebrating His gift of relationships and promoting spaces where we can share that with others.

The Gift of Relationships and Celebration

There is something very powerful and profound about community life as a central part of the church as the family of God. A precious Psalm says: “How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1a NIV)

I believe that God heals us and allows us to experience a very special joy when we open our hearts and allow ourselves to grow in our faith in the company of others.

It is good that the Christian life is not a life lived alone; we do not have to be isolated, nor do we have to discover everything on our own. Rather, we enter into the adventure of knowing God by finding companions, friends, brothers and sisters in the faith, who motivate us and whom we can motivate to overcome obstacles and see Jesus become the Lord of their lives.

We are reminded that the church is not a building or an organization, although we thank God for those things. But the family of God is built first by God who saved us, and also by each believer who commits only to God. This love in our hearts for others is God-given, especially as the family and children of God.

If we dare to take advantage of the opportunities to go one step further in our efforts to cultivate a community life in our church—meaning participating and creating spaces where we integrate our faith, share life, celebrate, and have fun with one another—we may be surprised at how much joy it will bring! When these spaces are created and are healthy, they help to strengthen our faith and to build relationships that will help encourage us, steady us, and sustain us in our walk with God.

The church provides many of these spaces, connections and growth groups, and it is very exciting to see how these groups are filling up right now. It is truly a special thing to enjoy and celebrate the community of the family of God.

El Regalo de las Relaciones y la Celebración

En FAC en español celebramos los cumpleaños de los miembros de nuestra congregación. Comemos pastel, oramos celebrando el regalo de la vida que Dios nos da, y tenemos un tiempo para divertirnos y compartir el regalo de las relaciones.

Otro evento especial que estamos compartiendo en comunidad es nuestra Reunión de Conexión, un tiempo en donde invitamos a las personas que van llegando a la congregación y en un espacio casual nos conocemos más personalmente, jugamos, participamos, y oramos juntos, este es un tiempo muy divertido. Las personas están amando el poder compartir con otros, hacer nuevas relaciones y el poder ser parte de la congregación.

Estos tiempos son una extensión de lo que hacemos como congregación en buscar de Dios y celebrar su bondad, y lo extendemos en celebrar el regalo de las relaciones, y a promover espacios donde podemos compartir con otros. Hay algo muy poderoso y profundo en la vida en comunidad como parte central de la iglesia, de la familia de Dios.

Un Salmo precioso dice: ¡Mirad cuán bueno y cuán delicioso es habitar los hermanos juntos en armonía! Creo que Dios nos sana y nos permite experimentar una alegría muy especial cuando nos abrimos a crecer en nuestra fe en la compañía de otros.

Qué bueno que la vida cristiana no es una vida solos, no tenemos que estar aislados, ni tenemos que descubrirlo todo por nuestra cuenta.

Sino que entramos en la aventura de conocer a Dios encontrando compañeros, amigos, hermanos de la fe, que nos motivan y a quienes podemos motivar a vencer los obstáculos y ver a Jesús convertirse en el Señor de sus vidas.

Somos recordados que la iglesia no es un edificio o una organización, aunque damos gracias a Dios por eso, sino una comunidad, la familia de Dios, y que es construida primero por Dios quien nos salvó, y también por cada creyente que se compromete no solo con Dios sino con la iglesia. Es algo natural que Dios pone el amor por los demás, especialmente por la familia de Dios.

Si nos atrevemos a aprovechar las oportunidades de ir un paso más ella en nuestra vida en comunidad en medio de la iglesia, aun puede ser en espacio que significan integrarnos, compartir y divertirnos con otros, vamos ser sorprendidos en que vamos a tener un tiempo divertido sanamente, pero también vamos a fortalecer nuestra fe y crear relaciones que nos ayudaran a sostenernos en el caminar con Dios.

La iglesia provee muchos de estos espacios, grupos de conexión y de crecimiento, y es muy emociónate ver como en este momento esto grupos se están llenando. Es un momento especial para disfrutar la comunidad y construir iglesia juntos.
