What’s New? Exciting Updates from the Family Life Team

Exciting things are happening at FAC! In this blog, Pastor Kyle Trigg will introduce the Family Life staff updates and what this means for our ministries.

As a church, we have been in a season of change—one of those has been working to ensure we have the right people, with the right workload, in the right seat, at the right time. That said, I have a few staff updates to share with you!

Chet Kennedy has become our Family Life Pastor, overseeing its various ministries (DiscoveryLand, Student Ministries, Young Adults, Relationships, and Senior Adult Ministries). Chet has been an amazing addition to our staff team. He has led Student Ministries so well over these last several years. Family Ministries is not only an area of deep passion for him but it’s also an area of rich experience with his previous role at Beulah Alliance Church serving as the “Next Gen Team Lead” there.

Chet’s pastoral heart and his desire for families to know and love Jesus at all ages and stages is contagious. Furthermore, his wisdom and experience with ministry systems and corresponding structures situate him really well for this role.

Chet Kennedy“I have always believed that stronger families build stronger churches. Throughout my years in youth ministry I have always tried to work with students and parents/guardians to help strengthen the family unit.

In my new role as Family Life Pastor, I am excited to continue to work with families to resource parents to disciple their children, work with families to strengthen marriages, and to continue to encourage all of the generations from young adults to seniors to join Jesus in the renewal of all things.”

Now, this has a couple of student ministry implications… one is that Morgan Clark is taking on much more of the sole responsibility for our Student Ministries (grades 7-12). She’s led remarkably well from the first day she got here and I am super excited for her to take another step forward in her leadership.

“It’s hard to believe that it’s been two years since I joined our staff team as Student Ministries Pastor. Some days, it feels like just yesterday. Other days, it feels as though I’ve been here for many years. Not much is changing in my world; I’ll continue to oversee our grades 7-12 programming with a few added responsibilities. I’m looking forward to another ministry year with FAC Youth, and am thrilled for Paige and Pastor Chet as they step into their new roles!”

The other implication relates to who will oversee Grade 5/6. Starting this upcoming ministry year, Paige Flewelling will be moving solely onto the student ministries team. She will continue with leading worship for Student Ministries and now, overseeing Grade 5/6. For the last few years, Paige has been juggling a few different ministry areas and we are super excited for this new chapter as Paige is brilliant with students and leaders. This is such a win!

For the past 2 years, I’ve had the honour of being a Music Associate, serving our Southwest Campus and Student Ministries departments. Through being involved in Student Ministries, my heart has grown exponentially for the next generation, and what God has in store for them.

Stepping into this new role is the next right step for me and aligns with what I feel God calling me into in this next season of ministry. I am so excited that I get to create spaces for these grade 5/6 students to encounter Jesus. Working with grades 5-12 is never something I thought I’d do, but I couldn’t be more excited and expectant for what the Lord is going to do in and through the lives of these students.

These are significant changes but we believe in helping align each person’s gifts with their serving opportunities as well as allowing for appropriate spans of care. In addition to these being the right changes for our fellow staff members for their gift mix and calling; we want to provide the best care and pastor our church family in all the things that come with life and ministry!

Thanks for celebrating these changes with us!
