Supporting the community

Together, let’s look for ways to join Jesus in sharing His love and hope in practical ways through local partnerships and volunteer teams in 2025! We’d love to hear from you whether you need help or want to help others.

Christmas Giving TreesGiving Trees

Starting November 23, stop by the Christmas Giving Trees at FAC Deerfoot to explore practical ways to support our community partners this season (The Mustard Seed, Teen Challenge Alberta, Radience Family Society, and the Calgary Food Bank):

  • Choose a tag from one of the trees OR check out the online Christmas Wish List.
  • Purchase the item you selected.
  • Drop off your gift (unwrapped please) with the tag attached into the Christmas Giving Tree bins before December 15.

Your donations will then be distributed to bless our Calgary partnerships as we join Jesus together in the renewal of all things! Thank you for your generosity this season.

Here are a few other ways we support single moms, seniors, widows, new immigrants and refugees, and those in financial need on an ongoing basis:

  • School Partnerships: Serving local schools through food support, providing school supplies, and in-classroom help.
  • Calgary Food Bank Hampers: FAC Deerfoot is a referral agency and pick-up location for food hampers. If you need a referral to receive a food hamper, please contact Michelle Peters. Pick-ups are at the Deerfoot Campus in the new Community Support Centre near the Information Desk (12345 40 Street SE):
    • Mondays, 4:30-6:30 pm
    • Saturdays, 9:30-11:00 am
    • Please note the Food Bank will be CLOSED from December 24-January 5
  • English Conversation Classes: offered seasonally at the FAC Deerfoot Campus; please note the current Fall 2024 class is now FULL and no longer accepting registrations.

How to Get to FAC Deerfoot via Calgary Transit

Take bus route 302; stop #2657 SB 40 Street @ 122 Ave; stop #2656 NB 40 Street @ 122 Ave.

We’ll take your empty bottles!

We’ve partnered with SkipTheDepot to support FAC’s short-term mission trips! What is SkipTheDepot? A door-to-door bottle collection service that makes refundable recycling and fundraising easier than 1,2,3

You can also drop your bottles off at the Deerfoot or Southwest Campuses on June 15/16! When you arrive on campus, simply put your bags of bottles in the back of your car, and the Global Engagement team will go around the parking lots to collect them. Your refund will go directly to the short-term mission teams for Summer 2024.

Testimonial

"I am writing to thank you for your generosity and kindness. My daughter and I are currently staying in the room you sponsor at the Sonshine House. We are going through a very challenging time, and the love and support we have received while being a part of this program has been incredible. Thank you so much for being there for us, and for making our transition from our old home to here so much easier than I thought it would be."
